We are a growing Data Management function within Group Data, responsible for shaping how data is defined, governed and relied upon across Policy Expert. Our work spans data governance, data quality, metadata management, data definition and stewardship - enabling data to be managed consistently and used with confidence in a modern cloud environment.
You’ll be joining our team at a pivotal time as we build out our data management and data governance capabilities as part of a major GCP transformation. Working closely with the Data Governance Manager, and collaborating with teams across Policy Expert, you’ll help embed practical and scalable governance processes for how data is delivered and used.
This is a hand‑on role with high visibility, offering the opportunity to work across a modern data stack, engage with a wide range of stakeholders, and make a tangible impact on how data is managed across Policy Expert.
Your day to day
As a Data Governance analyst, you will support the design and roll‑out of our Data Governance framework and processes, working hands‑on to deliver activities including:
- Running and reviewing data profiling and data quality outputs, identifying issues, assessing impact and supporting investigation and remediation
- Maintaining metadata and ownership information in the data catalogue
- Working with SMEs to create and maintain definitions for key metrics and concepts
- Supporting data access governance by working with cross‑functional teams to ensure access is appropriate, documented, and aligned to requirements
- Maintaining core governance registers (e.g. DQ issues, CDEs, PII classifications)
- Producing governance reporting to support prioritisation and decision making
- Working with delivery teams to embed governance in BAU e.g. onboarding new datasets with appropriate cataloguing and data quality checks
Who are you
You enjoy working with business and technical teams to support how data is defined, governed and used.
You must have
- Experience in data governance, data management, data quality or related role (3 years minimum)
- A solid understanding of data governance and data management concepts (e.g. data quality, metadata management, data cataloguing, lineage)
- Excellent analytical skills and confidence using SQL or similar
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Nice to have
- Experience with data catalogues and metadata tooling (exposure to GCP stack such as BigQuery and DataPlex is a plus)
- Knowledge of data privacy and compliance frameworks (e.g. GDPR)
- Experience working with insurance data
- Familiarity with governance frameworks or best practice models (e.g. DAMA‑DMBOK, DCAM)
This role will be based in our London office in a 50/50 Hybrid mode.
