About the Product Management team: Product Management is at the core of our strategy, guiding innovation and excellence across our insurance offerings. Led by our Chief Product Officer, who oversees our Heads of Product (Home, Motor, Pet, and Shared Services), the team facilitates strategic prioritisation and translates executive decisions into actionable roadmaps and timely delivery. Our Product Management function combines deep business insights, user-centred design, and agile methods to create impactful, customer-focused solutions.
As a Data Product Manager working with our pricing, underwriting and counter-fraud teams at Policy Expert, you will work in Group Data and collaborate with our Product Management teams to:
- Define the vision and roadmap: Work closely with stakeholders to define the overall vision and roadmap for your squad's data products, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic purposes.
- Prioritise initiatives: Balance short-term needs and long-term projects, prioritising initiatives based on business impact, feasibility, and resource availability.
- Delivery: Oversee the lifecycle of data product development from ideation through deployment and maintenance, working with a technical lead and Delivery Manager to ensure initiatives are delivered and their impact communicated to the wider business.
- Value tracking: Ensure that the value delivered by Data Products can be measured and reported to our Exec and Board.
- Squad management: Act as the liaison between data scientists, machine learning engineers, data engineers, and SMEs to ensure clear communication and alignment.
- Requirement gathering: Work with business units to gather requirements and understand their pain points to translate them into data product features with measurable KPIs.
- Continuous improvement: Regularly review performance metrics and user feedback to continuously optimise and improve data products.
- User training & documentation: Coordinate with relevant teams to provide training and support to end-users, ensuring they can effectively use the data products.
- Data quality standards and compliance: Establish and maintain high standards for data quality, consistency, and reliability.
You should apply if:
- A passion for data, and while you don’t need a technical background you are comfortable discussing data science and machine learning concepts, tools, and processes with technical people, as well as translating these concepts into business language.
- Experience of insurance pricing or underwriting or counter-fraud is beneficial for this role.
- A strong track record in data product development in technical cross-functional teams.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to implement strategies through pragmatic and realistic roadmaps and action plans.
- Experience of managing the full lifecycle of a data product from ideation, delivery, maintenance and continual improvement.
- A data-driven approach in how you build product insights to shape choices, and you are comfortable deriving these insights through SQL queries, dashboarding tools, etc.
- Extensive experience in managing and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent communicator, both written and spoken, at all levels of the organisation.
- Highly organised and structured in approach with a results-oriented mindset and an eye for detail.
This role will be based in our London office in a 50/50 Hybrid mode. We match your pension contributions up to 7%. Learning budget of £1,000 a year + Study leave (with encouragement to use it).
