The post holder will support the IT Manager with ongoing support and maintenance of all IT infrastructure, ensuring the security and integrity of IT systems by implementing and enforcing best practices.
The appointment will be made by the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland, acting in accordance with her powers under the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998. Staff appointed under the Act will be employees of the Police Ombudsman and are not civil servants. The appointment is a permanent contract.
The person appointed, in addition to the mandatory qualifications listed in the Employee Specification, should have proven interpersonal skills and highly developed communication skills across a range of settings.
The appointee should also possess a full understanding of, and commitment to, the fundamental principles of human rights, and a comprehensive understanding of the sensitive social, cultural, and political environment within which the work of the Police Ombudsman operates.
This post requires the post holder to have DV vetting clearance (see Terms and Conditions for further information).
Starting salary will be £34,524, with progression in the salary range determined by performance in the post and subject to the review process agreed by the Northern Ireland Civil Service. An ICT Level 5 Allowance of £3,713.00 per annum will also be payable for this role.
Please note: two pay awards are pending, which would increase the salary to £35,560 to £36,783 (2024 NICS payscales) and £37,694 to £38,990 (2025 NICS payscales).
