Police Now recruits and trains graduates and career changers with leadership potential to become inspirational police officers and outstanding crime fighters on our National Graduate Programme. Graduates can pursue a variety of specialisms working in Neighbourhood Policing, as a Detective or within Counter Terrorism or Economic Crime units. Police Now aims to create systemic change. We need highly capable impactful staff to support the recruitment and development of our officers and to cultivate strong relationships with partner forces and the wider sector.
The purpose of your role: Police Now is seeking an Operations Officer to work as part of the National Graduate Programmes Operations team. This role will provide the unique opportunity to be involved in further development of our programme on a national scale, ensuring that it genuinely drives participants to develop as leaders on the policing frontline and to have an impact in communities by reducing crime, reducing anti-social behaviour, and increasing the public's confidence in policing.
Working alongside members of the wider programme team, this role will have responsibility for delivering elements of the two-year programme, including the annual residential training academy and other training events. The Operations Officer will take responsibility for elements of the end-to-end project management and operational delivery, taking on workstreams to ensure the successful delivery of the training academy and other events as part of the two-year programme.
This role contributes to the wider development of the National Graduate Programme but supports on making the vision come to life, translating the curriculum into deliverables. The role requires an ability to be part of a complex operation at pace. Working across several cohorts, the post holder will work on and where appropriate lead on a series of workstreams to ensure the highest quality programme delivery for all participants on the Programme, working alongside colleagues at all role levels, to help deliver the best quality programme, as required.
Core to success in the role will be the ability to work in a busy event delivery environment, maintaining high levels of attention to detail and demonstrating the ability to own and complete workstream efficiently and thoroughly end to end.
Key responsibilities- Responsible for assigned workstreams and operational delivery, end to end, for elements of the Police Now’s National Graduate Programme.
- Effectively deliver numerous workstreams and tasks ensuring effective delivery against deadlines.
- Planning the operational delivery of events throughout the year and across the country.
- Work closely with various teams across the organisation to enable the analysis of data to drive improvements in delivery quality and programme performance.
- Work on the planning and execution of effective communications plans for participants, working with the Marketing Directorate to improve the on-boarding of participants pre-academy and innovate improvements for the communications strategy in programme.
- Comfortable with a wide range of digital platforms e.g., Brightspace, 360 Learning Platforms, Salesforce CRM and Microsoft Office and providing support in the planning, build and implementation of new functionality or BAU as required.
- Delivery of complex days at the 12-14 week residential academy, including assessments, attestation and scenario-based days.
- Own and maintain the relationship with key stakeholders such as our guest speakers.
- Contribute to the building of effective and long-lasting relationships with our force partners, stakeholders in policing and the home affairs sector, and our participants.
- Troubleshoot any problems and feedback with improvements for immediate or long-term effect.
- Alongside the Operations Manager and Operations Assistant Manager, task management of team coordinators who support the programme across 4 functional teams, helping them manage their workload and supporting their development.
- Be on-site as a core member of the team during the Syndicate Lead course and the initial police training Academy. This will be over an approximate 14-week period and will include overnight stays.
- Regular travel to the London Office, forces and events nationally will be required.
- Recent experience successfully delivering complex projects, workstreams or events.

- Excellent IT skills, including the ability to adapt to new systems quickly.
- Ability to travel within England and Wales and to work occasional weekends and evenings as required for the successful delivery of the Programmes.
- Willingness to be away from home during the delivery phases of the 14-week residential academy training, and events.
A bright, airy and modern office in Zone 1. Competitive salary of £36,000 - £43,000 per annum, pro rata (dependent on experience and inclusive of London weighting). Flexible working and operate a hybrid working model with both work and home and office. One month paid sabbatical every 5 years service. 27 days annual leave each year.
