We need highly capable impactful staff to support the recruitment and development of our officers and to cultivate strong relationships with partner forces and the wider sector.Purpose of role We are seeking a commercial and mission-driven senior leader to become our Head of Finance, IT & Governance. You will have strategic finance capabilities as well as core operational capabilities to manage the Finance, Governance and IT departments, and directly support the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in driving the strategic growth and sustainability of Police Now.You will operate as key part of the Police Now Leadership Team, making decisions at an organisational level. You must be confident in presenting to senior stakeholders and influencing peers; this role is crucial in ensuring that funds are used effectively across the organisation and that finance processes, controls and systems support our workforce to achieve our mission.The role is broad with full responsibility for financial management, ensuring our digital capabilities and systems are fit for purpose and our organisation runs and reports on its operations effectively. You will manage a medium-sized team with the support of a Finance Manager, IT Manager and Governance Manager to deliver day-to-day operations and strategic projects. Whilst IT experience is an advantage; we are seeking a Finance leader with a passion and aptitude for data and technology and an analytical mind that can translate business requirements into technology requirements.Responsibilities Lead finance, governance and IT functions to support strategic growth and operational effectiveness.Present to senior stakeholders and influence peers to ensure effective use of funds.Oversee financial management, controls, policies and reporting; ensure compliance for finance and IT needs.Oversee internal and external reporting, including quarterly updates to the Finance, Audit, Risk & Resources Committee and the Board of Trustees; manage the external audit process.Lead delivery of Board and subcommittee meetings and support organisational leadership through governance processes.Increase commercial awareness across the organisation and embed a commercial mindset in operations and contracting with forces.Strategically manage technology at HQ, ensure systems and data architecture meet digital delivery requirements, and partner with internal and external technical experts.Maintain IT security and data governance, ensuring appropriate cybersecurity measures and safe data handling.Develop a high-performing Finance, IT & Governance team with coaching, training and day-to-day operational management.Lead on finance or IT projects to maximise efficiency and decision-making; advise on company-wide initiatives.Person specification At least 5 years\’ experience leading Finance teams in industry or professional services; track record of developing high-performing and inclusive teams.Full professional accounting qualification – ACA or ICAS desirable.Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; data analysis, reporting and modelling.Experience with cloud-based financial systems (experience with Microsoft Business Central and WebExpenses beneficial).Senior Leadership Team experience or proven experience managing senior stakeholders; ability to present to senior management and/or Boards.Knowledge of core financial processes and best practices; ideally working knowledge of Charities SORP.Ability to demonstrate passion and understanding of business technology and how IT enables operations.Understanding of data architecture basics and how this translates to reporting and system design; knowledge of GDPR and data protection environment desirable.Excellent numerical and problem-solving skills; strong line management and coaching experience.Proven ability to advise and lead at a strategic level and deliver transformation projects in changing environments.Strong written and verbal communication skills.What you\’ll get from us A bright, airy and modern office in Zone 1.Competitive salary of £80,000 – £85,500 per annum, pro rata (dependent on experience and inclusive of London weighting).Flexible working and hybrid model (home and office).One month paid sabbatical every 5 years of service.27 days annual leave plus bank holidays; typically close from 25 December to 1 January.Access to health cover benefits, Employee Assistance Programme and discounts.Staff development fund for ongoing training and development.3 Growth and Giving days per year for study leave, wellbeing or volunteering.Annual EDI training and additional opportunities.Salary sacrifice schemes (cycle to work, technology and gym memberships).Regular cultural awareness initiatives celebrating diversity.Other information Please note: The closing date for this role is at 9am on Monday 26th January .Please note this role is London based with requirements to travel to our London office approximately 2-3 days per week.Applications will be screened as they are received and invited to interview accordingly.
