Police Now recruits and trains graduates and career changers with leadership potential to become inspirational police officers and outstanding crime fighters on our National Graduate Programme. Graduates can pursue a variety of specialisms working in Neighbourhood Policing, as a Detective or within Counter Terrorism or Economic Crime units. Police Now aims to create systemic change. We need highly capable impactful staff to support the recruitment and development of our officers and to cultivate strong relationships with partner forces and the wider sector.

The purpose of your role Police Now is seeking a Curriculum Officer to work as part of the Programmes Team. This is an opportunity to shape our programmes in order that they genuinely deliver the highest quality of leadership development and enable participants to have a real impact in our communities. This role will significantly influence leadership development within policing on a national scale and to be genuinely innovative at a time when leadership development within policing has never been more critical. Core to success in the role will be the ability to innovate and introduce elements to the programme which will attract individuals of the highest ability to the police service and to enable those individuals to have a material impact in the communities that they serve. We need someone with adaptability and a willingness to work in an innovative organisation. Ideally, you will have expertise in curriculum design, but most essential is that you are someone who takes personal responsibility for getting things done.

Key responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for workstreams covering the end-to-end planning, design and delivery of the National Graduate Programme curriculum.
  • Lead on improvements in all areas of the two-year programme.
  • Explore and help create new and innovative approaches to Police training and leadership development.
  • Engage in a rapid-review evaluation process at both curriculum design and curriculum delivery points, always aiming for a consistently high-quality leadership development and police training experience.
  • Co-design the teacher training for Syndicate Leads at the Syndicate Lead Course to ensure those with and without training experience deliver lessons in a manner and to a standard aligned to Police Now.
  • You will be responsible for regularly observing and developing the Syndicate Lead teaching over the course of the academy.
  • Comfortable with a wide range of digital platforms e.g., Brightspace, 360 Learning Platforms, Salesforce CRM and Microsoft Office and providing support in the planning, build and implementation of new functionality or BAU as required.
  • Be on-site as a core member of the team during the Syndicate Lead course and the initial police training Academy.
  • The Syndicate Lead course will run for approximately three weeks, and the Academy will be over an approximate 14-week period and will include overnight stays.
  • The Syndicate Lead course and the Academy will also have digital delivery time during these periods and will create the flexibility to also work remotely at certain times.

  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills with a solution focused mindset.
  • High levels of adaptability and perseverance in a changing environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
  • Excellent IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Willingness to travel within England and Wales.
  • Degree qualified (preferably at Masters level or level 7 equivalent in the Education/Curriculum space) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a policing environment.
  • Knowledge on online learning platforms and content management systems.
