Police Digital Service (PDS) is recruiting on behalf of the NPCC National Data & Analytics Office (NDAO) a dedicated national capability transforming data use in policing. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a ground-breaking function within policing which will shape the future of data and analytics in UK law enforcement and help to utilise policing data to better protect the public.
The NDAO will ensure:
- Responsible data use across law enforcement
- Improved data governance and standardised datasets
- Enhanced data analytics services to support operational decision-making
- Professionalisation of data roles within policing
- A more integrated data-sharing ecosystem across forces
For the first time, UK policing will have a recognised, accredited approach to data and analytics, helping forces to work smarter and more effectively without compromising security or integrity.
The purpose of the role is to translate national strategy, policy intent and operational need into trusted, sustainable and scalable data and analytics capabilities for UK policing. The role provides strategic leadership for the design, delivery, operation and adoption of national data, analytics and technology-enabled capabilities, ensuring they deliver measurable operational value whilst maintaining the highest standards of governance, security and public trust.
The role ensures that NDAO:
- Delivers coherent national capabilities rather than disconnected technical components
- Aligns delivery, architecture, assurance and governance to achieve strategic outcomes
- Sequences delivery realistically against dependencies, risk and organisational readiness
- Converts assurance findings into delivery actions or formal governance decisions
- Delivers services and capabilities that can be adopted, relied upon and scaled across policing
- Realises measurable benefits from investment in data, analytics and technology capabilities
By providing leadership across technical delivery, first line assurance, live services and capability development, the role ensures that national capabilities are delivered and operated at pace without compromising quality, security, governance or operational readiness, protecting national outcomes and public trust. The role acts as a key interface between strategy and delivery, ensuring that national investments in technology, data and analytics translate into effective operational capabilities that support policing outcomes now and in the future.

- Delivery, Assurance & Governance: Provide oversight of procurement, delivery, assurance and governance activities, ensuring risks, dependencies and assurance outcomes are managed effectively. Ensure services and capabilities meet appropriate procurement and finance rules, governance, assurance and operational readiness requirements.
What you need to succeed in the role:
- Strong understanding of data, analytics, technology platforms and service delivery within complex organisational environments.
- Knowledge of governance, assurance, information management, security and risk management principles.
- Understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with delivering national-scale data and analytics capabilities.
- Significant leadership experience delivering complex data, analytics or technology-enabled capabilities in a multi-stakeholder environment.
