Join Police Digital Service as a Service Design and Transition Specialist. FTC 12 Months. Full Time. Salary Β£50,000 per annum.
About Police Digital ServiceThe role ensures that appropriate service design and transition artefacts, support models, service requirements, governance arrangements and acceptance criteria are defined, agreed and maintained. The Service Design and Transition Manager will work with programmes, projects, suppliers and operational teams to confirm that services are supportable, operationally ready and transitioned in a controlled, low-risk way.

Act as the subject matter expert for service design activities across PDS, promoting service design principles, policies and procedures.
Ensure service design is embedded from project inception through to deployment, with service requirements, support needs and operational impacts identified early.
Collaborate with Product, Operations, DDAT, supplier and delivery teams to ensure service designs align with strategic objectives, operational capability and service management standards.
Service TransitionEstablish and manage the Service Transition practice within Service Management, ensuring consistent transition governance, controls and assurance are applied.
Act as the subject matter expert for service transition activities across PDS, promoting service transition principles, policies and processes.
Ensure required transition artefacts are created, reviewed and approved to enable effective operational service management.
Define and document service requirements, support models, roles and responsibilities, SLAs, OLAs and governance arrangements.
Work with programmes and projects to plan, manage and ensure successful transition into live operational service.
Manage Service acceptance activities, operational readiness assessments and early life support entry and exit criteria.
Risk and Quality ManagementIdentify, assess and support mitigation of risks, issues and dependencies associated with service design, transition and operational readiness.
Conduct service design reviews, transition assurance checkpoints and post-transition reviews to support continuous improvement.
Ensure service documentation is accurate, controlled and maintained throughout the service lifecycle.
What you need to succeed in the roleITIL 4 Foundation qualification, or equivalent demonstrable knowledge of IT service management practices.
Extensive experience in IT Service Management, with particular focus on service design and transitionProven experience of designing and transitioning new or changed services into live operational environments.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience coordinating varied internal and external stakeholders across project, supplier and operational environments.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with the ability to produce clear, concise documentation.
Track record of developing strong working relationships and managing expectations across projects, operational teams and senior stakeholders.
Enthusiastic about problem-solving, and a willingness to take responsibility and solve challenges.
Effective task management, prioritisation, and ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to adapt and respond to changing priorities and demands.
High levels of integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Working ArrangementsThis is a remote role with some national travel required to attend meetings.
All applicants must be eligible to undergo NPPV3 (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 3) and SC vetting clearances.
