As a Product Engineer at Ashby, you will take responsibility for a large portion of a product, from research and spec writing to design, implementation, and launch. Our engineering environment is intentionally lean: no daily stand‑ups, no planning meetings, and very little process overhead. The focus is on speed, ownership, and creative problem‑solving in a team of talented engineers.
Responsibilities

- Research competitors, write detailed product specifications, and design wireframes or prototypes.
- Implement and ship features that adhere to quality standards and align with product goals.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to iterate on user‑facing solutions.
- Persistently seek ways to improve tools, abstractions, and processes that benefit the whole engineering team.
Qualifications & Candidate Profile

- Experience thriving in environments with product and technical ambiguity.
- Ability to balance speed and quality; a mindset of building high‑quality code at scale.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; comfortable reviewing decisions with stakeholders.
- Proactive in creating leverage: automating repetitive work, building reusable tools, improving standards.
- Senior‑level experience (or equivalent) that demonstrates ownership and independent delivery of large projects.
Engineering Culture
- Minimal process that empowers engineers to make decisions normally handled by product or design.
- Natural collaboration and deliberate communication; focus on clear, concise updates.
- Investment in developer tooling and abstractions to accelerate delivery.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion at all levels of the organization.
Technology Stack
TypeScript (frontend & backend), React, GraphQL API, Node.js, Postgres, Redis. Previous experience is not required; a love of typed languages and fundamentals is valued.

- Ten‑year exercise window for stock options.
- Unlimited PTO.
- Minimum 12 weeks fully paid parental leave (longer for those outside the US where applicable).
- Generous equipment, software, and office furniture budget.
- $100/month education budget with larger items covered by manager approval.
