The Role:
We are seeking a detail-orientated and reliable Finance Officer with proven experience in managing VAT returns to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations, and supporting the overall financial health of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines
- Reconcile bank accounts and company ledgers regularly
- Manage accounts payable and receivable
- Assist Operations Manager with month-end and year-end financial reporting
- Support audits and tenders by providing required documentation and information
Essentials we are looking for:
- Proven experience in a similar finance role
- Strong knowledge of VAT regulations and experience preparing VAT returns
- Familiarity with accounting software (Xero)
- Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Stuff we’d love, but isn’t essential:
- AAT qualification or equivalent (support considered if this is something you would like to work towards)
- Experience preparing management accounts
- Experience working in a remote environment. A level of travel will be required.
