We are looking for talented teaching assistants who can work as part of a small team from the main Polden Bower School in an inclusive satellite within a mainstream primary school. As a brand new provision, you will be part of the development of this innovative and inclusive provision. We are excited to have a new Satellite at Somerset Bridge School, to provide a small group of children access to specialist teaching alongside inclusion opportunities within a mainstream school.
Working hours will be 32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term time plus INSET days). Term time hours of work: Monday 08:45 am - 04:45 pm; Tuesday - Friday 08:45 am to 03:30 pm. Successful candidates will complete 10 days induction and ongoing training with Polden Bower School and will have support from the specialist team from within the special school. Grade 14 & 15 – dependent on experience.
Polden Bower is a 160‑place special school and has the specialist resources needed to meet the needs of our students. State‑of‑the‑art facilities for all the children and young people include a warm‑water pool for physiotherapy, a sports hall, a sensory room, and fully accessible classrooms with the latest teaching technology. This is a very exciting time to be joining a growing Federation. We are working in partnership with The Bridge School, which is the PRU within Bridgwater.
Ideally, successful candidates will have a clean UK driving licence to enable them to travel between the satellite and Polden Bower School to access training and attend meetings as and when required. You will be expected to demonstrate:
- Excellent communication skills
- Resilience, flexibility, empathy and creativity
- An understanding of how children and young people with additional needs learn
- Good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
- The ability to build professional, positive and trusting relationships with children, young people and families
