The predicted salary is between 30000 - 40000 £ per year.

We are looking for a Specialist Sensory Teaching Assistant to join our growing team of staff. The individual will need British sign language qualification as the role will include one-to-one working with students with sensory impairment.

32.5 Hours per week, 39 weeks per year (Term time plus INSET days). Term time hours of work: Monday 08.45am-4.45pm, Tuesday-Friday 08.45am-3.30pm.

Polden Bower is a 160 place special school and has the specialist resources needed to meet the needs of our students, including state-of-the-art facilities such as a warm water pool for physiotherapy, a sports hall, a sensory room, and fully accessible classrooms with the latest teaching technology. This is a very exciting time to be joining a growing Federation, working in partnership with The Bridge School which is the PRU within Bridgwater.

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Provide mentoring for new support staff
  • Provide a professional role model for other staff
  • Support the admin roles of the class teacher in terms of keeping pupil files up to date
  • Ensuring that resources are prepared and ready for learning
  • Being the first point of call in their absence
  • Teach groups under the direction of the class teacher
  • Teach the whole class, short term in the absence of the class teacher
  • Plan and prepare lessons for groups you are teaching
  • Deliver training to other staff within the federation
