About Our School
Easthorpe School is an independent specialist provision in the East Midlands for children and young people living with families, foster carers or in residential homes. Opened in November 2022, we are expanding to support growing pupil numbers in the Lower School (7-13 years). Class sizes do not exceed 6 pupils and are supported by a qualified teacher and up to 2 teaching assistants. We support pupils with SEMH and a range of diagnoses including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, attachment needs and mild/moderate learning needs. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher to help shape our provision and enrich pupils' lives, while developing your own teaching skills in a rewarding sector.
Role Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality lessons aligned to the national curriculum
- Support the class team to facilitate learning and promote positive behaviours
- Monitor progress and liaise with staff to ensure pupils' needs are met
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities and trips
- Build positive relationships and support learning outcomes
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Degree-level education
- Experience teaching GCSE Science at secondary level
- Experience supporting pupils with SEMH
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Commitment to professional development
- Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
