Polaris Education - Ormston School is looking for a new Tutor who will lead on the wellbeing of young people and staff, including the role of ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant). Located in Headingley, Ormston School offers a safe and supportive environment for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities aged between 5 and 18 years old. With significant investment and an abundance of new resources, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to shape and mould the school to create a supportive environment that promotes self-discipline and engagement and inspires learning.

Role Responsibilities
- Support the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience and behaviour management within Ormston School
- Work with members of the Education team to support young people's personal and academic development by removing barriers to learning
- Promote positive learning behaviour with young people
- Lead classes during PPA and absence cover
- Deliver enrichment activities
- Support in lessons with academic understanding or pastoral, emotional or behavioural needs
- Respond to immediate concerns, clarifying the situation
- Create and collate information relating to lessons and interventions delivered
- Assist in the preparation of information relevant to meetings about pupils
- Act as an advocate for the ethos of Ormston School
- Lead on interventions, including Reading and Phonics, reviewing progress made by young people
- Develop the role of Pupil Voice, liaising with SLT about the Pupil Council
- Develop relationships with parents/carers, taking an active role in transitions and consultation visits
- Lead ELSA sessions and complete training with the Local Authority
Requirements
- Have a strong basic education, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
- Previous experience in a similar role, i.e., HLTA or Cover Supervisor
- Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH/Autism within an educational setting
- Experience of behaviour management techniques
- Committed to professional development and willing to learn
- Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work
