About the Role: As a pointSeven Medical Writer, you will work with our clients to help them decide what to say and how to say it. It is a varied role with tasks spanning desk research to workshop design; dissecting scientific papers to developing telegraphic creative campaigns that can directly impact clinical practice and people’s lives. Whether it's crafting global product narratives or writing killer headlines, your work must land instantly with audiences, speak to what they care about, and build a deeper understanding of health. You’ll be part of a small, fast-paced team that values smart thinking, sharp writing, and collaboration. As well as getting to know our clients, you will have the opportunity to get to know our internal processes and approach – the pointSeven ‘secret sauce’.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop scientifically accurate, engaging content for healthcare professional (HCP) audiences across a wide range of assets including sales aids, objection handlers, leave pieces, infographics, patient stories, magazine-style features.
- Interpret sometimes-complex clinical thinking and translate it into clear messaging and compelling copy that aligns with the clients’ brand strategy.
- Contribute to concept development, workshop design, messaging hierarchies.
- Review and amend content based on internal or client feedback.
- Maintain high-quality copy standards while ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory guidelines (eg, ABPI, EFPIA – full training provided).
- Attend and contribute to client calls and internal briefings, when required.
- Maintain familiarity with therapeutic areas, competitor activity, and the latest literature relevant to assigned brands.
- Conduct desk research and support the development of pitch materials and proposals.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- A background in health, medical or science journalism or demonstrable experience in a medical writing role within a healthcare communications agency.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating HCP-targeted content, especially promotional materials.
- Confidence in sourcing and interpreting clinical literature.
- Excellent written English, with a high level of scientific and editorial precision.
- Highly proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications, in particular PowerPoint.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Proactive, collaborative, and eager to learn from senior colleagues while owning your own projects.
- A degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, or a related field.
Desirable:
- Experience in delivering visually compelling information, and translating data into visuals.
- Understanding of storytelling theory.
- A higher degree (MSc or PhD) is an advantage but not required.
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 dependent on experience.
