The role

We are recruiting a Repair Operations Manager on behalf of a well-established and innovative technology business based in the Cambridge area. This is a senior, high-accountability role responsible for the end-to-end performance of a busy service centre repair operation, ensuring delivery against customer SLAs, operational KPIs, and financial targets.

You will take ownership of the operational management of the service centre, driving capacity planning, process optimisation, and continuous improvement to ensure a scalable, efficient, and compliant repair service. Working cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and commercial teams as well as partner networks, this is a role that combines strong operational leadership with technical credibility and commercial awareness. Please note that due to the nature of the work undertaken by this team, candidates must be willing to undergo UK SC security clearance, which the business will support the successful candidate in obtaining.

Main responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of repair services against SLA, quality, cost, and turnaround targets
  • Define and manage operational KPIs, ensuring performance is tracked and continuously improved
  • Ensure capacity planning and resources are aligned to demand forecasts
  • Drive operational efficiency, productivity, and throughput improvements across the service centre
  • Oversee the technical capability of the repair function, ensuring robust fault-finding, diagnostic processes, and engineering standards are maintained
  • Manage budgets, cost control, and efficiency improvements
  • Support commercial activities including tenders, pricing, and service proposals
  • Lead and develop the team to grow capability and manage performance
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, health and safety, environmental, and security requirements
  • Drive a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Support the adoption and optimisation of ERP service workflows

Skills/experience

Essential:

  • Degree in an engineering or related technical subject, or equivalent professional experience gained within an electronic repair or manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end service or production operations in a workshop environment
  • Demonstrated ownership of operational KPIs, budgets, and performance improvement
  • Experience driving continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Strong stakeholder management across technical and commercial functions
  • Experience working with customer-facing teams in a B2B environment
  • Commercially aware with experience managing costs and pricing for services
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications for communications and data analysis

Desirable:

  • Formal qualification in electronics or a related discipline such as ONC, HNC, HND, or equivalent
  • Relevant qualifications in repair services such as IPC certification, auditor training, or ITIL
  • Background in electronics fault-finding and repair to component level
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX/365 and Power Applications
  • Project management experience
