We are recruiting for an experienced Street Lighting Engineer. This is a hands-on role where the Street Lighting Engineer will be responsible for testing, inspection, fault finding, and maintaining street lighting installations on both routine and high-profile schemes.
Based from the Cambridgeshire area with regional site coverage, the Street Lighting Engineer will work closely with operational teams to ensure public lighting assets are safe, compliant, and accurately recorded. This is a permanent position offering long-term stability, development opportunities, and the chance to progress within a business that values safety, quality, and its people.

Type: Permanent, full-time
Main Responsibilities:
- Carry out testing and inspection of street lighting and electrical installations
- Work alongside colleagues on multi-point testing and large-scale public lighting schemes
- Fault finding on street lighting circuits following loss of supply or routine IR testing
- Maintain accurate daily records of test results, corrective actions, and outstanding faults
- Complete as-laid documentation for installed street lighting cables and joints
- Promote a safe working environment for yourself and others at all times
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements
- Deliver a professional, customer-focused service on site
Skills / Experience:
- Proven experience as a Street Lighting Engineer or in public lighting electrical testing
- Experience in 714 electrical installation testing (public lighting) or equivalent
- 18th Edition qualification (or currently working towards)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Well organised with excellent attention to detail
- Comfortable using tablet-based job management systems
- Positive attitude and willingness to develop additional fault-finding skills
Salary & Working Hours:
- Permanent role
- 45 hours per week
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
- One-hour unpaid lunch break
- Competitive salary depending on experience
