Main Purpose of the Stores Goods In Inspector:
Goods-in/Stores operative with general technical inspection skills, to join our clients team. You will be responsible for the receiving, and the general inspection of parts, delivered against the purchase order. The inspection process mainly involves a quantity count and a check against the delivery note associated to the purchase order; also, to visually identify any damaged or defective parts. Some inspection of parts may require a measuring process β for example, measuring the diameter and length of raw materials issued to the machine shop, such as rods and tubes. The Goods-in department will benefit from an individual who has had or is experienced as an inspector of machined and fabricated parts. The preserving of stock items, the accurate distribution of parts issued to machine build orders, maintaining a tidy working environment whilst being responsive to the daily working operations, requires an agile and dedicated approach. You will be working alongside the Stores/Goods-in Supervisor, but at times, must be able to work on your own with a proactive mindset.
Main Duties for the Stores Goods In Inspector:
- Receiving parcels packages and pallets into Goods-in.
- Inspecting product & items received and against the purchase order.
- Dimensional, tolerance inspection work against engineering drawings.
- Accurately booking items & product onto stock management system (ERP).
- Locating and maintaining items & products within stock locations β creating locations when needed.
- Picking items for mechanical & electrical machine builds β issuing parts to the Production departments and maintaining documents for traceability.
- Receiving free-issued samples from the customer β booking, locating, and notifying internal stakeholders.
- Creating basic purchase orders for subcontractor metal finishing β note, this is not a regular requirement.
- Communicating with Suppliers β chasing Mill Certs or arranging collections etc.
- Stock checking and stock adjustments.
- Assisting with the loading of vehicles, this could include product returns, despatching of complete machines, scrap waste materials etc.
- To be flexible in various aspects of the Goods-in, Stores and Production areas.
Skills required for the Stores Goods In Inspector:
- Forklift licence β counterbalance (LPG).
- Time served and experience gained from within a Goods-in / Storeβs environment.
- Manual work β lift heavy weights, but in line with H&S policy and training.
- Computer literate β general understanding of Excel, Outlook, Word & ERP/MRP systems.
- UK Driving Licence.
