The role

We are recruiting a CNC Setter/Operator on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business. This is a permanent opportunity suited to either an experienced CNC Operator or a CNC Setter — with the hourly rate reflecting your level of experience and capability.

You will be responsible for the programming, setting, and operation of CNC machines, working to tight specifications and ensuring all production requirements are met to the highest standards of quality and efficiency. This role would suit someone who takes pride in the quality of their work, has a keen eye for detail, and is looking to commit to a long-term position within a well-regarded manufacturing environment.

Main responsibilities

  • Programme, set, and run CNC machines to produce components to specification
  • Work to all production paperwork and processes accurately and in a timely manner
  • Carry out quality control checks throughout the production run, clearly marking any machining errors for downstream teams
  • Check all product components are correct before and during operation
  • Prepare and sort materials prior to machining, including cutting, sanding, and priming replacement materials as required
  • Maximise machine uptime and minimise set-up times throughout your shift
  • Maintain the saw dust extraction system and change dust bags as required
  • Report any delays or issues to your team leader promptly
  • Keep your working area clean, tidy, and safe at all times
  • Follow all health and safety procedures and raise any concerns with your team leader immediately

Skills/experience

  • Minimum two to three years of experience operating five and three axis CNC machines
  • Skilled in the operation of CNC machines
  • Programming knowledge (a strong advantage)
  • Forklift licence (advantageous)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good time management and a calm, level-headed approach under pressure
  • Target-oriented with a team-focused attitude
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including occasional weekend working when required

Hourly rate & working hours

  • Hourly rate: £14.00 - £17.00 per hour, dependent on experience (operators at the lower end of the scale, setters at the higher end)
  • Bonus: 5% quarterly bonus
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week on one of two available shifts:
    • Early shift: 06:00 - 14:00
    • Late shift: 14:00 - 22:00
