Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (with up to 15 hours remote working per month)

The role

We are recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer on behalf of a globally recognised, innovative technology business based in Cambridge. In this role, you will be responsible for the design and development of electrical circuitry to support manufacturing and systems development processes. You will take a hands-on approach to leading electrical designs, supporting product development, and mentoring junior engineers — making this an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical design engineer looking to make a real impact within a forward-thinking, technically challenging environment.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead electrical system designs from concept through to implementation
  • Take a hands-on approach in the realisation of designs
  • Support the development of new product systems
  • Support existing products in the field
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers
  • Liaise with sub-contract suppliers

Skills/experience

Essential:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Minimum three years of industry experience
  • Experience in electrical system design to IEC
  • Experience in safety design to ISO
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Good discipline in revision control and technical documentation
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in commissioning systems (FAT and SAT)
  • Experience in high voltage design to IEC
  • Experience with E-Plan
  • Experience in capacitor sizing and supervision of system builds
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting PLC and HMI programs
  • Proficiency in Siemens PLC and HMI programming, including ladder logic
  • Good discipline in coding and commenting practices
