Point One is partnering with an up and coming London-based hedge fund to recruit a highly skilled and experienced Senior Equity Analyst (USA TMT). The successful candidate will specialize in US Technology equity research, with particular focus on Semiconductors, Software, Media, and Biotechnology stocks. This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly driven individual with at least four years of experience in providing actionable investment ideas within the US Technology sector for both long and short strategies.
The role offers a unique opportunity to manage your own sleeve of capital while reporting directly to the Chief Investment Officer (CIO). You will play a key role in driving the hedge fund’s US Technology investments by identifying market trends, uncovering mispricing opportunities, and helping to shape the fund\’s overall strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct deep, fundamental research on US Technology stocks across the Semiconductors, Software, Media, and Biotechnology subsectors.
- Generate actionable long and short investment ideas for the hedge fund\’s portfolio, utilizing a combination of both fundamental and technical analysis.
- Leverage insights from research to inform investment theses and create investment recommendations for both long and short positions.
- Manage your own sleeve of capital, making autonomous investment decisions while staying aligned with overall portfolio objectives.
- Report directly to the CIO, providing regular updates on market conditions, stock coverage, investment ideas, and performance of your capital sleeve.
- Monitor and evaluate the macro and micro trends that affect the TMT sector, including regulatory changes, industry disruptions, and company-specific developments.
- Collaborate with other team members to contribute to the development and execution of the fund’s investment strategy.
- Actively participate in the hedge fund’s investment meetings, presenting research findings, stock recommendations, and insights on sector developments.
- Maintain strong relationships with industry experts, sell-side analysts, and company management teams to gather proprietary insights.
Qualifications:
- At least 4 years of experience in US Technology buy side equity research, with a demonstrated track record of providing actionable long and short investment ideas in the Semiconductor, Software, Media, and Biotechnology sectors.
- Deep knowledge of key technology trends and the competitive landscape within these sub-sectors.
- Experience in managing capital and making independent investment decisions within a hedge fund or institutional investment environment.
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in building and maintaining complex financial models.
- A clear and structured approach to presenting research and communicating complex ideas to senior investment professionals.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment while balancing multiple research projects.
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field is preferred; advanced certifications such as the CFA are a plus.
