Bishop Ramsey School – a co‑educational Church of England secondary school and sixth form with academy status – has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and innovative educational leader to join a supportive and experienced Senior Leadership Team as Headteacher.
Key Responsibilities
- Form the aims and objectives of the school.
- Develop the school’s policies on curriculum and teaching and learning.
- Ensure that Bishop Ramsey School is a safe place for students.
- Ensure that the teaching and learning provided by all departments forms a coherent curriculum, meeting the needs of all learners at Bishop Ramsey School.
- Maintain high morale and confidence among staff and parents and set an example of professional standards of leadership.
- Attend and report to meetings of the Trust Board and its committees.
- Assure the quality of the work done by Bishop Ramsey School.
- Lead the Senior Leadership Team of Bishop Ramsey School and deploy them to achieve the school’s aims.
- Lead the school’s Self‑Evaluation process.
- Lead the School Development Plan, ensuring that it aligns with the vision of Veritas Educational Trust.
- Lead the monitoring and evaluating of teaching and learning throughout the school.
- Monitor national developments in curriculum management and lead the implementation of curriculum change, where appropriate.
Skills and Experience
- Ability to communicate clearly and build strong relationships with all stakeholders, including staff, students, parents and community members.
- Honours degree or equivalent, with substantial experience of teaching.
- Experience at Deputy Head or equivalent level.
- The capacity and willingness to contribute to the development of the school’s strong Christian ethos.
- Membership and regular attendance at a Christian church.
- Proven ability to plan strategically.
- The ability to lead, influence and manage continuity and change.
- The ability to be proactive, innovative and versatile, with a high level of drive, energy, enthusiasm, resilience and integrity.
- Evidence of a strong contribution to raising standards in your current school through self‑evaluation and school improvement planning.
- Occasional day attached to a weekend in the lead up to Christmas.
- Annual Ramsey Day, which extends one of the holiday breaks.
- Provision of cakes, fruit, etc. for staff on a number of days throughout the year.
- Employee Assistance Provider (CiC) – an independent, confidential advice service, providing free practical advice or emotional support for staff and their dependants, paid for by the school.
- Buzz Nights, where each faculty takes turns to organise a social event for anyone in school who would like to attend.
- All new staff are allocated a \”buddy\”.

Contract and Hours: Permanent, full‑time.
