Bournville School – a vibrant and diverse school in the heart of Birmingham and a proud member of the Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust – is seeking a highly organised and motivated Operations Manager to join the team and lead the academy’s administration team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working in conjunction with the Site Manager to ensure the site is maintained and set up as necessary, performing regular inspections to monitor and address any issues, repairs and health and safety concerns.
  • Coordinating academy events, such as Parents’ Evenings, Merit rewards, Celebration Evenings, and school performances.
  • Leading weekly operations meetings for support staff managers.
  • Managing and quality assuring the administration team.
  • Overseeing all incoming communication, ensuring the administration team supports a wide range of queries from students and parents and that all information is effectively communicated.
  • Creating and issuing admissions packs for new students and overseeing the academy’s admissions procedures for Years 7–11.
  • Liaising with the Trust HR team regarding recruitment, onboarding and specific HR issues.
  • Taking responsibility for the academy’s GDPR, data protection and subject access requests.
  • Providing administration support to the set-up of ParentPay cashless system accounts for school trips, school meals/free school meals, and parent queries regarding balances.
  • Overseeing the budgets and ordering of stationary/office equipment and paper supplies.

Skills and Experience

  • Educated to GCSE level A*–C or equivalent in English and Maths, with an intermediate or above qualification in word processing/typing.
  • Recent experience in an administrative role and reception work.
  • Good knowledge of IT systems and proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, with experience using database applications.
  • Good knowledge of standard office procedures and equipment.
  • A pleasant and confident telephone manner.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and deal with conflicting demands.
  • Good verbal, listening, literacy and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with situations in a tactful manner.

Hours

Full-time, term-time only + 10 days to be worked in the school holidays over the academic year.
