Overview

Independent Advocate role based in Surrey (home-based with travel). You will provide crucial support to vulnerable adults facing health and social care challenges, delivering verbal and written representations on behalf of clients, and collaborating with public and voluntary organisations to address client issues.

Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. Location: Home based with travel around the Surrey Borough. Applicants must live within the area; have a full driver’s licence and access to their own transport. Salary: £24,242.40 per annum. Contract type: Permanent.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Strong communication and time management skills to work remotely.
  • Excellent IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ability to learn client management databases.
  • Attention to detail for accurate record-keeping and reporting to meet tight deadlines.
  • Desirable: experience in advocacy, information and advice, or a similar role within health, social care, or the voluntary sector; experience working with vulnerable adults; working knowledge of public and voluntary organisations.

Organisation

POhWER provides advocacy and information services to support people in making effective decisions about health and social care. A full induction, training and equipment are provided, including a laptop and mobile phone. Advocates are expected to hold or be working towards an advocacy qualification (City and Guilds Level 4 IAP). POhWER sponsors IAP qualification following probation and pre-enrolment; time for study is provided and qualification should be completed within 12 months of registration.
