Salary: £24,000 - £27,000 per annum (depending on experience) +£5.77/hour for shifts after 6 PM and weekends

Company Description: We are a thriving podcast production company based in the vibrant Shoreditch area of London, a 5 minute walk away from Liverpool Street Station. Our state-of-the-art studio spaces serve as a creative hub for podcasters to bring their ideas to life. Our team is passionate about creating top-notch podcast content and helping businesses succeed through effective podcast marketing. We are seeking a versatile individual to join our team as a Junior Studio Assistant and Video Engineer, who will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth studio operations and supporting the delivery of high-quality video content for our podcast clients.

Job Purposes: The Studio Assistant supports the Studio Operations team in delivering smooth, professional, and high-quality podcast and video recordings. This role assists in studio preparation, recordings, equipment handling, and general studio upkeep. The Studio Assistant plays a hands-on role in making sure every shoot runs seamlessly, while also ensuring a welcoming and well-managed studio environment for clients.

Required Experience, Skills & Capabilities:

  • Experience: Some exposure to production, AV, or studio environment. Experience working with clients and within a team.
  • Skills: Basic understanding of video equipment - Preferably Sony Cameras (can be self-taught or through education). Basic understanding of audio equipment - preferably in a studio or podcast environment. Competence using both Mac and PC, as well as general file management. Basic knowledge of the wider Adobe Suite, in particular Adobe Premiere Pro; bonus for After Effects, Photoshop.
  • Capabilities: Willingness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced, client-facing environment. Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, organised space. Ability to work well with a team and take direction from senior staff. Physically capable of handling light lifting and gear setup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Studio Operations: Assist in and solo setting up the studio for podcast and video recordings, including furniture layout, microphones, cameras, and lighting. Reset and tidy the studio after each session to ensure it is client-ready. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all studio spaces and breakout areas. Monitor supplies such as water, coffee pods, and studio consumables.
  • Technical Setup & Support: Support senior staff with setting up and testing cameras, microphones, lights, and other technical equipment. Operating audio/video equipment during shoots. Monitor sound levels and camera framing once trained up. Help troubleshoot minor technical issues during recording sessions, escalating where necessary.
  • Client Relationships: Greet and welcome clients upon arrival, offering them refreshments and guiding them through the space. Assist with basic queries about equipment, facilities, or studio procedures. Ensure a calm, friendly, and professional atmosphere during all client sessions.
  • Asset & File Management: Help import footage and audio files after shoots. Label and organise files correctly for handover to the post-production or senior team. Assist with file transfers when requested.
  • Team Support: Work closely with the Studio Assistant, Studio Engineers and Studio Manager to ensure smooth running of the daily shoot schedule. Support ad hoc tasks such as moving furniture, prepping gear, or running errands related to shoot setup. Participate in regular team meetings and feedback sessions.
  • Maintenance & Inventory: Support regular equipment checks with senior team members. Flag any faulty equipment or maintenance needs. Help track studio consumables and assist with reordering when stock runs low.

Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Daily: Help open/close the studio on rotation (following a checklist). Assist with studio prep and reset for all scheduled sessions. Run basic studio shoots after training. Help test audio and visual equipment before shoots. Support equipment and room clean-up post-session.
  • Weekly: Assist with cleaning and organising the studio and client areas. Help review and maintain gear, batteries, and cables.
  • Monthly: Participate in team deep-clean and studio reorganisation sessions. Support a full review of gear, furniture, and supplies. Suggest workflow or equipment improvements based on experience.
