Pod-Trak is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead and deliver electrical engineering designs within a growing multi‑disciplinary team. You will be responsible for developing detailed designs for power distribution, substation systems, and associated electrical infrastructure. The role involves close collaboration with civil, structural, and construction teams to ensure integrated and compliant designs for clients in the energy, utilities, and infrastructure sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed electrical designs, calculations, and schematics for LV, MV, and HV systems
- Prepare design documentation including single‑line diagrams, cable schedules, and protection studies
- Conduct load flow, fault level, and protection coordination analyses
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (BS, ENA, IEC, DNO, and client specifications)
- Provide design assurance and technical support during project delivery and commissioning
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical design with civil and mechanical works
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises
- Support tender and bid submissions with technical input and design estimates
- Manage design changes and maintain configuration control throughout the project lifecycle
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design quality and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Degree‑qualified in Electrical or Power Engineering (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in electrical design within infrastructure, energy, or utilities sectors
- Strong knowledge of LV/MV/HV distribution systems and associated protection philosophies
- Proficiency with electrical design tools (ETAP, Amtech, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Understanding of grid connection standards and regulatory compliance requirements
- Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (or working towards)
- Experience in DNO/ICP environments
- Familiarity with BIM, 3D design, or digital design collaboration tools
- Understanding of renewable and battery storage connection design principles
