About the Role

Pod-Trak is looking for an Estimator to join our busy Pre-Construction department, based in Uxbridge, West London.

Working closely with the Bid Manager and wider Pre-Construction team, the position will be key to providing a professional and efficient service in support of bids and tenders.

The candidate will have a collaborative approach and will require a high standard of communication and writing skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare first-principles estimates, cost plans, and tender pricing submissions.
  • Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, Bo Qs, and scope requirements.
  • Price work across rail, infrastructure, energy, and water, adapting the approach to client, asset, and delivery constraints.
  • Support civil engineering estimates, including earthworks, drainage, concrete, structures, foundations, compounds, and enabling works.
  • Prepare enquiry packages for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Identify and price key tender risks, including scope gaps, design maturity, ground conditions, interfaces, access, programme, possessions, utilities, consents, and third-party dependencies.
  • Work with bid, planning, commercial, operational, HSQE, design, and procurement teams to align the estimate with the tender solution.
  • Prepare estimating handover information, including assumptions, risks, exclusions, quotes, productivity allowances, and key commercial decisions.
  • Use estimating software, spreadsheets, document-management systems, and procurement tools effectively.

Requirements

The successful Estimator would preferably have

  • Relevant qualification in quantity surveying, civil engineering, construction management, estimating, commercial management, or a similar discipline is desirable.
  • HNC, HND, degree, or equivalent industry experience is advantageous.
  • Membership, or working towards membership, of RICS, CIOB, ICE, or ACost E is beneficial.
  • Contractor, subcontractor, or infrastructure delivery experience is preferred.
  • Experience pricing rail, civils, utilities, energy, water, or multi-disciplinary infrastructure works is advantageous.
  • Site, commercial, or operational experience is beneficial where it supports productivity, access, sequencing, and risk understanding.
  • Strong numeracy, commercial awareness, and the ability to build, check, and explain estimates.
  • Knowledge of estimating principles, pricing structures, preliminaries, margin, risk, inflation, productivity, and benchmarking.
  • Understanding of Tier 2 delivery models, including self-delivery, subcontracting, frameworks, and multi-disciplinary tendering.
  • Awareness of NEC-based tendering and key commercial implications.
  • Ability to support adjudications with cost summaries, risk allowances, and recommendations.
