Pod Talent is proud to be representing this outstanding retail business during a period of peak performance. We’re looking for an experienced and hands-on Warehouse Manager to take the lead at the busy Luton Distribution Centre during a crucial trading period.
This is a maternity cover role where you’ll be responsible for keeping operations running smoothly through peak – managing a team of 22 warehouse operatives, 4 drivers, and working closely with a trusted 3PL partner.
This is not a desk-only role. You’ll be visible on the floor, leading from the front, driving performance, and ensuring that stock flows efficiently from inbound to outbound, with customer deliveries hitting OTIF targets. You’ll also have the opportunity to identify and implement process improvements that keep the distribution operating at its best.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading day-to-day warehouse and distribution operations, including inbound, storage, picking, packing, and outbound deliveries.
- Managing and developing team leads, especially supporting newly promoted staff.
- Coordinating with 3PL partners for cross-docking, returns, and refurb processes.
- Maintaining strong performance across inventory accuracy, OTIF, and yard management.
- Managing transport operations, investigating delivery issues, and preventing bottlenecks.
- Planning ahead for peak, ensuring staffing, processes, and contingencies are in place.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong warehouse operations background, ideally in high-volume or heavy/bulky goods.
- Proven leadership experience, including managing high and low performers.
- Experience with 3PL or transport operations is a plus.
- Hands-on, adaptable, and calm under pressure.
- Skilled at coaching and developing junior managers.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
Why join? This is a high-impact role where you’ll be trusted to take ownership, make decisions, and directly shape how the warehouse and distribution network operate during a critical growth phase. You’ll be surrounded by a supportive senior team, but with the autonomy to lead your site your way.
