I’m looking to speak with proactive and commercially driven procurement professionals to lead supplier sourcing and category expansion within a dynamic organisation. This critical role focuses on expanding ingredient coverage, driving profitability through strategic supplier negotiations, and strengthening supplier partnerships. The position is hybrid and involves sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management, with an emphasis on building a robust supplier base, enhancing category margins, and driving business growth. The ideal candidate will have experience sourcing commodities or other relevant food categories.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Sourcing & Category Expansion: Identify and onboard new suppliers, negotiate competitive terms, and develop strategies for expanding product categories.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with suppliers, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards.
- Order & Supply Chain Oversight: Manage the order process, address logistical challenges, and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Commercial Growth: Collaborate with internal teams to drive cost savings, enhance supplier performance, and manage margins to increase profitability.
Key Success Metrics:
- Number of new suppliers onboarded in key categories.
- Volume and value of negotiated cost savings.
- On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery rates.
- Buyer retention and category engagement.
- Supplier satisfaction and retention.
Requirements:
- Experience sourcing suppliers across diverse categories, particularly ingredients/ commodities, with a strong understanding of supplier networks.
- Knowledge of certifications and compliance standards relevant to the industry (e.g., BRCGS, Soil Association).
- Proven experience in supplier sourcing, procurement, or buying roles, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Ability to analyze market trends, identify opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
- Familiarity with supply chain processes, including international sourcing and compliance.
