Key responsibilities for the position of Regulatory Specialist:
- Own regulatory compliance for food, feed, and supplement ingredients across UK/EU (plus ad‑hoc global markets).
- Monitor legislative changes (BRCGS, Novel Food, REACH, FAMI‑QS, Organic, Halal, Kosher) and translate impact into clear, practical actions for the business.
- Review and maintain specifications, labels, claims and dossiers; troubleshoot complex customer and supplier queries.
- Liaise with authorities and certification bodies to secure licences and approvals.
- Train quality, commercial and ops teams—turning “reg speak” into plain English and fostering a compliance culture.
- Support wider QA projects (GFSI/BRC audits, crisis management, system upgrades) and, at manager level, mentor one direct report.
Experience required for the position of Regulatory Specialist:
- 3 – 10 yrs regulatory or technical experience in food / beverage / nutrition.
- Hands‑on expertise with EU & UK food law plus at least two of: Novel Food, REACH, FAMI‑QS, Organic, Halal, Kosher, packaging/FCM.
- Comfortable juggling detailed admin (spec systems) with big‑picture stakeholder advice.
- Confident communicator able to simplify complex regs for commercial & SLT audiences.
- Proactive, solutions‑focused mindset - the person who says “Here’s the risk and here’s how we fix it”.
- If you bring senior‑level depth and want the manager banding, you’ll also have led or coached others and be ready to stay hands‑on.
