Head of Logistics (FMCG) - Manchester

Role – Exciting Head of Logistics Opportunity – FMCG

Salary – up to £85,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus

Location – Northwest – Liverpool, Blackpool, Batley, Chorley, Kirkham (with 50% travel to sites and up to 2 days from home per week)

Key Responsibilities for the position of Head of Logistics –

• Lead and optimise logistics operations across warehousing and transport—both outsourced and in-house fleets.
• Manage key 3PL relationships and drive performance improvements.
• Oversee a £40m logistics budget, ensuring cost efficiencies and operational excellence.
• Optimise the company’s warehousing and distribution network, working closely with key partners.
• Lead a team of four direct reports, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant logistics legislation and industry best practices.

Key Experience Required for the position of Head of Logistics –

• Proven leadership experience in logistics, ideally within FMCG or another fast-paced industry (excluding purely 3PL backgrounds).
• Strong 3PL management experience, with full budgetary responsibility.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering performance improvements and cost savings.
• Strategic mindset with experience in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Kaizen, EFQM, etc.).
• Exposure to own fleet management and network optimisation.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills and cross-functional collaboration experience.
