Pod Talent are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a leading consumer business to recruit a Senior Logistics Transport Manager. This is a newly created position, offering the opportunity to play a key role in shaping and optimising a rapidly evolving UK transport network. Following significant investment into its logistics operation, the business is entering its next phase of growth and is looking for someone who can challenge existing ways of working, drive continuous improvement and help build a transport network that's fit for the future.
This isn't a traditional transport management role centred around fleets, drivers or day-to-day transport operations. Instead, we're looking for someone who enjoys taking a strategic view of transport performance, using data to identify opportunities, improving network efficiency and working collaboratively across the wider supply chain to deliver meaningful operational improvements.
You'll be responsible for reviewing how the transport network operates today, identifying opportunities to optimise final mile, middle mile, supplier collections and inter-site movements, while balancing service, cost and customer experience. Working closely with Supply Chain, Planning, Production and Logistics teams, you'll help ensure transport capability continues to evolve alongside business growth, supporting smarter planning, improved operational performance and greater network efficiency.
This is a highly visible role where you'll work across multiple stakeholders, influence key decisions and help shape the future direction of transport within the UK operation.
Key responsibilities for the position of Senior Logistics Transport Manager (Transport Planning):
- Review and continuously improve the performance of the UK transport network across final mile, middle mile, supplier collections and inter-site movements.
- Identify opportunities to improve route efficiency, network design and overall transport performance.
- Work closely with Supply Chain, Planning and Production teams to ensure inbound supply and outbound customer demand remain aligned.
- Build strong working relationships with external carrier partners, monitoring performance and driving continuous improvement.
- Use operational data and transport KPIs to identify trends, challenge existing processes and deliver measurable improvements.
- Support the ongoing development of transport planning capability, systems and ways of working.
- Lead and develop a Transport Planner while influencing stakeholders across the wider logistics operation.
Experience required for the position of Senior Logistics Transport Manager (Transport Planning):
We're looking for someone who combines strong transport planning experience with a naturally analytical and curious mindset. You'll ideally come from a fast-paced logistics, retail or consumer environment where you've been responsible for improving transport performance through better planning, optimisation and cross-functional collaboration.
Experience we're particularly interested in includes: Transport Planning.
