Pococks Poultry is a long established, family run business with an outstanding reputation for quality, customer service and traditional values. Supplying high quality poultry, bacon and provisions across the South West since 1849.
The Role
We are looking for a detail oriented and proactive Finance Assistant (Sales Ledger) to join the team in Melksham. This role is ideal for someone with a solid background in finance who enjoys working in a family run, collaborative environment and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records while supporting business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Raising sales invoices accurately and in a timely manner
- Posting customer payments and processing credit notes
- Reconciling customer accounts and maintaining accurate sales ledger records
- Monitoring outstanding balances and issuing customer statements
- Proactively chasing overdue payments
- Resolving invoice and payment queries efficiently
- Liaising with customers and internal departments to investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Supporting external accountants with year-end processes
- Assisting with month-end reporting and audit requirements
What we're looking for
- Between 3-4 year's experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar role with strong sales ledger exposure
- Familiar with the system software Sage
- Comfortable working within an SME or family run business environment
- Detail focused with strong organisational skills
- An excellent communicator who can confidently build relationships with customers, colleagues and senior stakeholders
- Proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team
