This service is home to individuals with Physical and Learning Disabilities. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring their safety, comfort, and wellbeing. Your support will focus on promoting independence where appropriate, providing reassurance, and responding to individual needs in a calm and attentive manner.
The service promotes the importance of the “do with and not do for” approach, and even during night-time hours this ethos remains at the heart of the support we provide. Each individual has their own unique personality, routines, and overnight support needs. As part of the team, you will help maintain a peaceful environment, encourage healthy sleep routines, and provide support that enables the people we support to feel safe and respected in their home. Your role will be instrumental in creating continuity of care and ensuring consistency between day and night support.
Key Duties Will Include:
- Provide high-quality personal care, administer medication, and respond to individual care needs in a respectful and person-centred way.
- Support individuals with daily routines, including morning and evening activities, as well as night-time support such as repositioning, comfort checks, and ensuring individuals are safe and settled.
- Maintain accurate digital records, document all observations (day and night), and communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure continuity of care.
- Carry out domestic tasks appropriate to the shift, including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe, comfortable environment.
- Offer reassurance, emotional support, and meaningful interaction, adapting communication styles to meet individual needs at all times.
- Work collaboratively as part of the wider team, sharing information, supporting colleagues, and contributing ideas to continuously improve the service.
Skills and Experience Needed
A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided. Please ensure your application evidences experience of the following:

Pay and Pensions
£25,877 (£13.45 per hour) Sleep-in rate: £62.64 per 8 hour shift - approx. 1 per week. Waking night rate: 20% Enhancement from 11pm to 7am Enhanced DBS which we will pay for Social Care Wales registration is fully reimbursed Pension Choices: Defined Contribution (DC) Scheme with matched contributions up to 10%. Or, Defined Benefit (DB) 1/80th of final salary for every year of service.
