About the role
As a Green Careers Placement Facilitator, you will play a vital role in delivering an innovative, externally funded employability programme designed to support young people aged 16–30 into sustainable careers within the growing green economy. Working across Newport and Swansea, you will lead on identifying, coordinating and managing high-quality work placements that are inclusive and tailored to the needs and aspirations of participants.
You will work closely with employers to create supportive, accessible placement opportunities, helping them to adopt inclusive practices and better understand how to engage and develop early talent. Alongside this, you will provide ongoing mentoring and support to participants throughout their placement journey, helping to overcome barriers, promote wellbeing, and maximise retention and progression into long-term employment
Skills and Experience Needed
We’re looking for someone with experience of working with employers to coordinate placements, apprenticeships or similar programmes, alongside a strong background in supporting young people—particularly those facing barriers to employment—through mentoring, coaching or tailored one-to-one support. You’ll be a confident communicator, able to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. With a proactive, solution-focused approach, you’ll be able to overcome challenges and support inclusive outcomes, while also bringing strong organisational and digital skills to track progress and manage information effectively. An understanding of safeguarding and good practice when working with young people is essential, and any knowledge or interest in the green economy or sustainability would be a valuable advantage
