pobl. is an independent talent consultancy specialising in medical communications. We're working with an ambitious, and highly-regarded, medical communications agency to recruit a Business Development Director to build and lead their business development function. This is a senior commercial role focused on winning new clients, expanding existing partnerships, and driving sustainable revenue growth.

You’ll own the business development strategy end-to-end: identifying where to focus, how to position, and how to win. You’ll manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through to close, build a strong pipeline of high-value opportunities, and lead the BD team to embed a high-performance, collaborative culture. This is a permanent role, based in the UK (Manchester, Oxfordshire, or hybrid/remote). It’s a role for someone with proven success in a medical communications agency and a genuine track record of winning business.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Define and deliver a focused business development strategy, identifying priorities and positioning aligned to company goals.
  • Own the full sales cycle end-to-end: prospecting, pitches, contracting, and win new-to-business clients while driving growth in existing accounts.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the BD team while maintaining a high-quality pipeline and providing clear forecasts to leadership.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven success winning new business and delivering against revenue targets in a medical communications agency setting.
