About the role

You’ll lead a skilled transactional team that covers purchase ledger, rents, sales ledger, and cash book. You’ll help shape how our finance systems and processes work – as we embark on a project to move to a new finance system, you will play a key role in the project team. You’ll play a vital role in keeping our financial operations compliant, accurate, and future-ready. Your work will make a direct impact on the quality of services we deliver across Wales. You’ll be part of a supportive organisation with a focus on professional growth and wellbeing. You’ll have the flexibility of agile working, balancing time in the office with working from home.

Skills and experience needed

We’re looking for someone who can bring a mix of leadership skills, technical knowledge, and a proactive mindset.

  • Essential:
    • Proven experience managing transactional finance teams, inspiring confidence, and developing others.
    • Strong numeracy skills and experience with accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
    • Ability to improve processes and develop internal financial controls.
    • Excellent communication skills – able to adapt your style for different people and situations.
    • Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
    • Experience leading transactional functions in a project capacity.
    • Part qualified accountant or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Desirable:
    • Project management qualification.
    • Experience introducing continuous improvements in transactional processes.

As Financial Transactions & Systems Manager, you’ll lead key financial systems and transactional processes across the Group, working closely with colleagues to ensure strong governance, compliance and continuous improvement. This is a hybrid role, based in Cardiff, Newport or Swansea, with agile working to support flexibility while maintaining collaboration and business needs. We support a healthy work–life balance with flexible working, Monday to Friday hours, and the option of compressed hours where operationally appropriate. This is a full-time, permanent role (37 hours per week) with a salary of £53,472.
