Summary

We have an opportunity for a passionate and caring person to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in our Supported Living service in Glynneath, Neath Port Talbot. We have a 24 hour (+ 8 hour sleep in), part time permanent position available. Day shifts are typically split between 7am-11pm, with sleep‑ins as extra. This service needs to be staffed 24/7 so you will be required to work various shift patterns including days, evenings, weekends and sleep‑in shifts as part of a rolling rota.

A full UK manual driving licence and access to your own car is essential for this role.

About The Role

This service is home to four amazing women with learning and physical disabilities, as well as early‑onset dementia. In this role, you will work closely with these individuals, supporting them to maintain and develop their day‑to‑day independence. You’ll help enhance their individual skills, assist with daily activities, and provide consistent emotional support, ensuring they feel valued, empowered, and supported in a safe and nurturing environment. The service promotes the importance of the “do with and not do for” approach and has had a very positive impact on these incredible individuals. The individuals we support have different personalities with different likes and hobbies. By being part of this team, you would play an influential role in enabling the people we support to lead fulfilling and independent lives and see first‑hand how you make a difference to them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care, medication administration, cooking, household tasks, and cleaning.
  • Support individuals in attending appointments, accessing local groups, participating in hobbies like walking or hiking, and engaging in meaningful activities that promote independence and life skills.
  • Build positive relationships by talking about their interests, providing emotional support, and encouraging fun, fulfilling experiences.
  • Help individuals manage finances, improve household skills, and grow in confidence.
  • Work collaboratively with the team, contribute ideas, and maintain high standards of communication and digital documentation.
  • Adapt to individual needs, including occasional lone‑working and bringing fresh perspectives to improve the service.

Skills and Experience Needed

A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.

Pay and Pensions

  • Pounds 25,877 (£13.45 per hour)
  • Sleep‑in rate: £62.64 per 8‑hour shift – approximately 1 per week
