Summary

We have an opportunity for a passionate and caring person to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in our Supported Living service in Carmarthen. This is a 21-hour permanent position with 9 hour sleep ins as extra. Day Shifts: 7am-3pm / 3pm-10:00pm Sleep in shift: 10pm-7am A full UK driving licence and access to your own car is essential as part of this role. What is the role?

Our supported living service is home to four active adults with mental health needs. Each person has their own level of independence, alongside unique strengths and support needs. In this role, you’ll encourage individuals to maintain and develop their day‑to‑day independence, build confidence, and strengthen key life skills. You’ll offer support with daily activities, provide positive encouragement, and help each person work towards their personal goals. You will also provide emotional support to people who may have additional needs such as ADHD, neurodiversity, learning disabilities, or challenges related to substance misuse. Your support will contribute to a positive, empowering environment where individuals can thrive and enjoy a fulfilling, meaningful life. Our team follows the Active Support approach “doing with, not for” ensuring the people we support are at the heart of every decision and encouraged to live life on their own terms.   • Daily Living Support: Assist with personal care, medication administration, cooking, household tasks, and cleaning.
  • Community & Social Engagement: Support individuals in attending appointments, accessing local groups, participating in hobbies like walking/hiking, and engaging in meaningful activities that promote independence and life skills.
  • Companionship & Wellbeing: Build positive relationships by talking about their interests, providing emotional support, and encouraging fun, fulfilling experiences.
  • Skill Development: Help individuals manage finances, improve household skills, and grow in confidence.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Work collaboratively, contribute ideas, and maintain high standards of communication and documentation.
  • Adaptability: Support individuals based on their unique needs, including occasional lone working and bringing fresh perspectives to improve the service.

Skills and Experience Needed

A background of working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, but not necessary as full training and support from senior staff and management is provided.

Pay and Pensions

  • £25,877 (£13.45 per hour)
  • Sleep‑in rate: £62.64 per 8 hour shift - approx. 1 per week.
  • Enhanced DBS which we will pay for
  • Social Care Wales registration is fully reimbursed
