Services & Roles
- Newport Housing First (1× 37 hours)
The team uses an internationally evidenced approach to supporting the most excluded, long‑term, entrenched and cyclically homeless individuals, focusing on quick permanent housing solutions and addressing contributing issues.
Who we’re looking for: Experience with complex needs and ability to work within Welsh Government’s Housing First principles.
- HS Newport Lighthouse Project (3× 37 hours)
Manager & Floating Support Workers support a variety of needs, including general homelessness, downsizing/up‑sizing, transition to permanent housing, and other housing‑related needs. Service is person‑centred and empowering.
Who we’re looking for: Resettlement support experience, understanding of relevant benefits and Housing Support Grant requirements.
- HS Newport Newid (1× 37 hours)
Manager & Floating Support Workers provide support to individuals aged 18+ at risk of or experiencing homelessness, or struggling to maintain tenancy.
Who we’re looking for: Understanding of homelessness processes, ability to signpost and support housing issues.
Skills & Experience Needed
- A passion to work with and enable people to live as independently as possible.
- Enthusiasm for making a difference to people’s lives.
- Strong initiative and ability to work alone and as a great team player.
- Ability to handle conflicting and difficult situations.
- Visit customers to conduct welfare checks, offer support, information, and advice in open and honest conversations.
- Work with external agencies and signpost to appropriate services.
- Awareness of safe working practices such as lone working and safeguarding policy.
Key Details
All roles are permanent contracts. Working pattern is predominantly Monday–Friday office hours, with required flexibility to meet service needs. A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
