We’re looking for a commercially focused leader to continue to develop The Hive and grow a network of community spaces across Newport. We welcome talent from beyond traditional community roles. If you’ve led in retail, hospitality, arts, culture, or business and know how to balance purpose with performance, we want to hear from you! This role combines community impact with commercial discipline, building a financially viable, scalable model that works for the long term.

You’ll bring proven experience of generating income, managing performance and leading successful operations. You’ll build on the Hive’s strong existing values while shaping and elevating a compelling, commercially sustainable offer, developing revenue streams, driving performance and leading a team to deliver both impact and results.

About the role: This is an 18‑month fixed‑term role, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, working 37 hours per week. You’ll play an important role in supporting the day‑to‑day running of The Hive. The Hive operates Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, and the majority of your hours will be based on‑site, with only occasional evening or weekend work required.

Skills and Experience Needed: You’ll lead the day‑to‑day running of The Hive, ensuring it is welcoming, well‑managed and financially sustainable. Alongside creating a high‑quality experience for everyone who uses the space, you’ll oversee budgets, income‑generating activity and local partnerships, using insight and feedback to strengthen both commercial performance and community impact. With a visible presence in the community, you’ll play a key role in expanding the model into new neighbourhood spaces and shaping services that make a real difference.

We’re looking for someone with a social heart and a business mind – an energetic, values‑driven leader who can spot opportunities, inspire others and help our spaces thrive.

Values: At Codi, our values are Compassionate, Authentic, and Progressive. When you join us, you’ll embrace these principles and thrive in an environment shaped by them.

Pay and Pensions: £41,261.00 (for part time roles include both full time equivalent and pro rata salary for reference). Pension Choices: Defined Contribution (DC) Scheme with matched contributions up to 10%. Or, Defined Benefit (DB) 1/80th of final salary for every year of service. 3 x Life Cover linked to pension membership. Saving scheme with competitive interest rate. Give As You Earn scheme for tax efficient charity donations. From 1st April 2026 the option to be either weekly or monthly paid.

Time off and Flexibility: 26 days holiday, pro rata entitlement plus Bank holidays. Rising to 31 days with an extra day for each full year of service. Flexible working opportunities dependent on role. Maternity & Adoption Leave: 20 weeks. Paternity Leave: 3 weeks. Sick Pay, rising with length of service up to 6 months full pay after 4 years. Eyecare: Up to £100 reimbursement towards eye tests and glasses. Free counselling, coaching, wellbeing team, and OH service to all colleagues. Annual Health Check. Health Cash Plan.

Getting Around: Salary sacrifice Electric Vehicle Lease Scheme (subject to eligibility). Cycle to Work Scheme.

Personal Development: Continuous professional training and development. Professional memberships needed for your role are reimbursed. Career coaching. Support with funding and time for qualifications.

Perks and Recognition: Long Service Awards. Blue Light Card Eligibility giving discounts at 15,000 brands.
