Group Data Protection Officer – Making a Positive Impact Through Information Governance
We are looking for someone who cares about doing things the right way, keeping people’s information safe, and helping others understand how to do the same. As our Group Data Protection Officer, you’ll play a key role in making sure we follow the law, protect personal data, and support our teams across the Pobl Group. Where does this role fit in?
You’ll be part of our wider governance and compliance work, helping to ensure we meet legal responsibilities and follow best practice. You’ll attend key meetings like the Information Governance Group, work alongside colleagues across the organisation, and lead on our approach to data protection. This role supports teams from care and support to housing – your work will help thousands of people across the communities we serve.
In addition, you’ll line manage one individual, providing clear direction, support, and development to ensure they thrive in their role. You’ll be responsible for setting priorities, guiding day-to-day activities, and creating a positive and inclusive working environment that encourages continuous improvement and collaboration.
What skills and experience do you need?
To Do Well In This Role, You’ll Need:
- Experience working in data protection or a similar field.
- Confidence giving advice to senior leaders, writing reports, and working with Boards and Committees.
- Strong knowledge of UK data protection laws and how they apply in practice.
- Great time management – you’re organised, can meet deadlines, and can handle more than one thing at a time.
- Clear communication skills – you can explain complex things simply, and work well with others.
- Good IT skills – you’re confident using systems and databases.
- An eye for improvement – you look for ways to make things better, whether through people, processes, or technology.
- A good standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent) is essential.
- A relevant qualification or degree is helpful but not essential.

What are the pay and benefits?
- £38,764 for a 37 hour, full-time, permanent opportunity.
- Flexible working policies – This role will involve working from home, our head offices which is either Newport, Cardiff or Swansea and at times you may need to visit our other sites which are across South Wales.
- You will benefit from mileage expenses at 45p per mile as per Pobl’s policy.
- 26 days holiday entitlement plus Bank holidays, rising to 30 days with length of service.
