Categories: Technology & Data
Job Description: People & Business Experience
About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity to build your career in data engineering while working with modern tools and technologies. You'll gain hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks, building and maintaining data pipelines, and supporting the flow of data through our data platform and into our central data warehouse. You'll also develop your understanding of source control workflows, data modelling, testing, and industry best practices, helping you build a strong foundation for a long-term career in data engineering.
As a Junior Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in helping us turn data into valuable insight. Working as part of the team responsible for moving data from operational systems into our central data warehouse, you'll help extract, clean, transform and model data so it's accurate, reliable, and ready for reporting and analysis.
Day to day, you'll support the development of data and analytics solutions, automate manual processes, carry out testing, resolve issues, and document technical designs. You'll work closely with colleagues across the business to ensure data is secure, accessible, and delivers meaningful value, while continuing to develop your technical skills and knowledge within a supportive team environment.
This is a permanent, full-time position working 37 hours per week, with the flexibility to work a 9-day fortnight through our agile working approach.
Skills and Experience Needed
We're looking for someone who has recent experience working with data and is keen to develop their career in data engineering. You'll have good working knowledge of SQL and be comfortable using it to work with data, solve problems and deliver practical solutions. Experience using Python and an understanding of software development practices would be advantageous. Most importantly, you'll bring an interest in data, a willingness to learn, and enthusiasm for developing your technical skills in a supportive environment.
