About the role

Join our Health & Safety team and play a key role in supporting colleagues and customers across the business to create safe, healthy and compliant working and living environments. This 37-hour per week role offers the option of a 9-day fortnight and the opportunity to work closely with teams across a wide range of services.

You’ll be supporting the business in safe ways of working and helping to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of staff, customers and anyone affected by our activities. Providing day to day health and safety support across the organisation, carrying out audits and inspections, advising colleagues, and helping to manage risks effectively. You’ll also lead on key operational areas such as lone working, develop engaging training and learning materials, and spend time out and about working directly with teams to promote a positive safety culture.

This is a varied, people focused role that combines practical health and safety work with relationship building, training and continuous improvement. There is an expectation that much of your working week will be working face to face with our colleagues and customers.

Skills and Experience Needed

We’re looking for someone with experience in a health and safety compliance, advisory or assurance role, ideally within social housing, care, healthcare, property maintenance, or trades-based environments. You’ll possess a sound knowledge of health and safety legislation and be confident applying this knowledge in a practical and proportionate way.

You will work collaboratively with managers and teams to drive continuous improvement, you’ll be an excellent communicator with a can-do approach who can build positive relationships, influence colleagues at all levels and provide clear, practical advice. You’ll be comfortable influencing others and navigating situations where health and safety requirements and operational priorities need to be carefully balanced.

You’ll also be organised, able to manage competing priorities and comfortable working independently as well as part of a team.

To be successful in the role, you’ll hold a NEBOSH General Certificate and have experience producing risk assessments, carrying out audits and inspections, and supporting a proactive health and safety culture. Knowledge of landlord compliance, food safety, HACCP and infection control would also be beneficial. A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential as travel across our services is required.
