As a Health & Safety Officer, you will be part of a highly dedicated and professional team, which is responsible for delivering the highest quality of service to an internationally dedicated client base. The main purpose of your role will be to be responsible for the Quality, Health and Safety on a specific Customer contract, visiting sites throughout the UK (mainly Hartlepool, Corby, Midlands, Wales) at least 2-3 times a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and where applicable, lead weekly and monthly H&S Meetings
- Investigate non-conformance reports and incidents relating to customer business
- Formally investigate and report on any major incidents and participate in meetings to discover root cause of accidents and injuries, in line with the defined Incident Investigation Process
- Create and distribute as necessary any Safety Bulletins, Alert bulletins, Proactive bulletins
- Proactively conduct audits of tractor and trailer operations, staff, driver behaviour and provide site presence
- Conduct regular trailer park brake checks
- Assist in the management of hauliers in terms of Safety
- Assist and advise on Site improvements, including collection plans, site signage, driver handouts, site induction packages and workplace risk assessments
- Keep informed of changes and developments (legislative and industrial) in H&S and bring these to the attention of managers and customers
Your Profile
- Previous experience in a H&S role with good H&S knowledge and awareness, qualified to IOSH Managing Safely level
- Experience of conducting incident investigations
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability to develop good working relationships at all levels and keep calm in demanding situations
- Strong organisational skills, including ability to prioritise and manage own workload and an eye for detail
- Good IT skills, including MS Word and Excel
- A current driving licence
