Being a safeguarding role, we have strict requirements to apply for this role.

To apply for this role, you must have the following ability / experience / qualifications:

  • Previous experience of working as a lifeguard in a swimming pool environment.
  • Competent swimmer, able to swim 100m both on front and on back (unaided by using recognised stroke).
  • RLSS Emergency Response (Swimming Pools) Qualification
  • Good command of spoken English and be able to educate users to the risks involved with poor behaviours, able to build rapport to effectively influence guest behaviours and effectively deal with any guest issues or complaints.
  • Good command of written English to facilitate accident / incident and complaint recording accurately.
  • Provide first aid assistance for minor ailments / accidents and contact the medical team for more severe cases.
  • Recognise safeguarding issues and be able to respond appropriately.

Primary Responsibility of the Role:

  • Provide the highest level of passenger service, maintaining high standards and striving to provide passenger satisfaction.
  • Ensure passenger safety while in the pool and/or the deck area, by monitoring the pool area at all times.
  • Respond to any situations / incidents safely and promptly.
  • Keep the pool deck area clean and tidy and clear away food and beverage service items such as rubbish and used towels regularly.
  • Assist in setting up the pool and surrounding deck area with sun chairs laid out and correctly positioned at start and end of day.
  • Ensure the area is stocked correctly with towels and supplies, replenishing when necessary. Inform line manager of required supplies and any equipment related issues.
  • Open and close the pool area appropriately and in liaison with the Deck Department.
  • Regularly attend Sail Away parties and other corporate sponsored social events, interacting with passengers as part of regular work duties.
