We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing Pre-Construction Department. The role involves the design, development, and coordination of electrical building services systems across a range of projects, from concept through to completion. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, clients, and other engineering disciplines to deliver high-quality, compliant electrical designs, while supporting junior team members and contributing to continuous improvement within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and develop electrical design solutions in accordance with project briefs, applicable standards, and client requirements
  • Produce and coordinate electrical design drawings and specifications, including:
    • LV power distribution
    • Lighting and emergency lighting systems
    • Small power
    • Containment layouts
    • Schedules and schematics
  • Undertake and review electrical calculations
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations, including BS 7671 and project-specific requirements
  • Coordinate electrical designs with other building services disciplines and architectural layouts
  • Attend client, design, and coordination meetings as required
  • Respond to technical queries during design development and construction phases
  • Support the preparation of technical reports and design documentation
  • Provide guidance and support to Junior Engineers and CAD Technicians
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, quality standards, and health & safety requirements

Project Involvement:

The Electrical Design Engineer will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, including:

  • Concept and feasibility design
  • Detailed and technical design
  • Tender and construction information
  • Design coordination and construction support

Projects may include commercial, residential, industrial, healthcare, education, or public sector developments.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Degree (or equivalent qualification) in:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Building Services Engineering
    • Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • Proven experience in electrical building services design
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical building services systems
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Good understanding of UK electrical regulations and standards
  • Ability to manage own workload and meet project deadlines
  • Strong communication and coordination skills

Desirable:

  • Proficiency in Revit software
