We are supporting a major international manufacturing group to recruit a Logistics Manager for one of their flagship manufacturing business sites in the South East. This is a senior leadership role on a 24/7, high-volume plant with a complex logistics footprint, tight next-day delivery promise, and a function already performing well against KPIs. You will own the full end-to-end flow, inbound raw materials, internal movements, warehousing, dispatch, planning, inventory and the on-site 3PL through the leadership of a wider team of circa 40 people.
This is not a warehouse manager job. It’s a site-critical leadership position with genuine influence over plant strategy, customer service and a large upcoming new ERP and WMS systems implementation. We are looking for a leader who can maintain and improve KPI metrics, someone who can deliver ongoing operational improvements. Someone who can develop a 3 to 5 year strategy that supports the business, cross-functional teams, and the needs of the customers now while meeting changing customer trends and needs in the future.
The Role: You’ll take ownership of all inbound materials and on-site aggregate handling, managing incoming raw materials, finished product arriving from other group sites and third parties, and metal components used in fitting kits. The operation includes a heavy material team running CAT diggers and dump trucks, a warehouse team, and a planning team, plus close coordination with central procurement to keep supply performance tight and non-conformances under control.
On site, you’ll lead a busy 24/5 warehouse supporting a 24/7 production line, with 15 to 20 inbound vehicles and 65 to 85 outbound loads a day across 600 to 700 SKUs. Space is tight and stock moves fast, so planning, inventory accuracy and flow management really matter. You’ll oversee around £5m of raw materials and finished goods, run production planning for a single high-volume line, and work closely with the on-site 3PL to keep everything moving smoothly.
A major part of the agenda is systems change, including the migration to a new ERP and the rollout of a new WMS. You’ll be the logistics voice in design, testing and deployment, while sustaining strong service performance, reducing errors and championing Customer Focus and Service within WCM. This is a visible leadership role that demands daily presence in the operation, a strong behavioural safety mindset and the ability to work closely with production, engineering, quality and central functions.
What we are looking for:
- Senior logistics leadership in a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Experience managing a sizeable team through direct reports
- Strong exposure across inbound raw materials, warehousing, planning, inventory and outbound transport
- Proven 3PL management experience
- Hands-on leadership style, visible, present, engaged
- Strong behavioural safety mindset (NEBOSH or IOSH + evidence of culture leadership)
- Experience with ERP/WMS/SAP transitions or implementations
- Evidence of continuous improvement in service, cost and logistics performance
- Degree educated in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Management, or similar is desirable.
Interested? If you have the background described above and want a senior, site-critical logistics role where you own the full end-to-end flow and sit on the senior leadership team, please get in touch.
