We have an exciting opportunity for a senior-level Technical Director of Electrical Engineering. This role will serve as the central voice for Electrical Engineering Design and will lead this discipline within PM Group. It offers a chance to contribute strategically to the company\’s future direction. This is a full-time, technical role within our design services.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Director of Engineering, other Discipline Technical Directors, and Heads of Services to ensure efficient and consistent delivery of design services across all 20 of our design offices. This role significantly impacts company performance, project safety, and fostering a safe, healthy, and motivated workforce.

This senior position reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for leadership, governance, troubleshooting, and defining operational methods in Electrical Engineering Design.

We offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options with up to two days remote work weekly. The role can be based in Ireland, the UK, Poland, or Belgium.

Responsibilities

  • PM Group Strategy for Electrical Engineering

Lead the development of the discipline aligned with PM Group’s strategy and local Business Unit plans, including:

  • Developing a group-wide electrical engineering strategy to forecast capability and capacity.
  • Supporting Business Units in strengthening their departments, including profiling and training needs.
  • Developing SME areas within electrical engineering, such as sustainability.
  • Aligning cross-functional competencies with architecture and other disciplines.
  • Defining design activities and deliverables for core sectors to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Digitalisation of Business Processes / Ways of Working
  • Implement strategies for continuous improvement in electrical engineering.
  • Enhance the Electrical Engineering Service Delivery Platform within our QMS.
  • Create standardized group-wide working methods considering local codes and norms.
  • Integrate digital and sector-specific approaches across locations.
  • Manage business transformation projects within the role’s scope.
  • Governance of Design Delivery
  • Support sales proposals and establish project watch lists based on design challenges and risks.
  • Influence early design stages and chair design reviews for key projects.
  • Review safety documents and contribute to go/no-go decisions for high-risk projects.
  • Troubleshooting
  • Act as a first responder for critical electrical design issues.
  • Engage with senior teams and clients to agree on corrective actions.
  • Serve as a technical sponsor for corrective initiatives and update management on progress.

Qualifications

  • Passion for Electrical Engineering
  • Focus on safe assets
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Relevant industry experience, including senior management roles
  • Knowledge of Pharma, Med Tech, and Data Center industries
  • Membership in a recognized engineering body (e.g., IET)
  • Strong technical, commercial, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate across teams
  • Self-starter and decisive
  • Fluent in English
