To work as a contract Electrical Project Engineer and successfully deliver priority projects for our clients Widnes site. Working as part of the project team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing design & project management expertise on electrical projects and will report to the Site E&I Engineer. This position will provide a variety of challenges and opportunities to work with some of the latest technology and would ideally be suited to a person who is self-motivated and possesses the drive and enthusiasm that will make a difference. The person needs to be proactive in maintaining and developing knowledge and skill to meet needs of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the project activities of the site E & I and Project teams.
  • Encourage and support compliance with health, safety and environment rules procedures and legislation amongst employees and contractors.
  • Project management from design to execution of electrical projects which will involve upgrading and replacing HV and LV equipment on the site electrical network.
  • Electrical design works associated with modifications to the site electrical network.

Essential Experience:

  • Evidence of electrical scope project management on a brownfield site.
  • Experience of electrical technical reviews of specification, design and proposals.
  • Development of technical specifications for electrical equipment.
  • Design experience of LV networks.
  • Project experience of upgrading HV and LV networks including component specification and design standards.
  • Experience of managing contractors and CDM, permits.
  • Experience of electrical switchgear design, installation & replacement.
  • Understanding of power systems, including fault levels and protection studies.
  • LV network and infrastructure upgrades i.e. MCC & LV switchboards.
  • Design for re-distribution of power on site networks.
  • HV network infrastructure modifications i.e. substation upgrades, modifications and redundant equipment removal.
  • Although predominantly project work on LV systems, an understanding and knowledge of HV systems would be extremely beneficial.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree (or similar).
  • Project management qualifications.
  • 18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations.
  • Member of the IET or other professional body.

The desired candidate will be a self-starter and be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and oral. A high level of computer literacy is essential in the use of Microsoft Office.
